Son of terror suspect convicted: Imran Mostafa, the 20-year-old son of controversial Muslim cleric Abu Hamza, pictured, has been convicted for his part in an armed robbery of a jewellers in Norfolk

The son of controversial Muslim cleric Abu Hamza has been convicted after he stole £70,000 of gems in an armed smash and grab raid on jewellers.

Imran Mostafa, 20, was one of three men who raided jewellers in Kings Lynn, Norfolk armed with a firearm and a hammer as shop staff cowered behind counters.

The civil engineering student denied his part in the robbery on January 31 and possessing a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence but the jury at Norwich Crown Court convicted him of both charges.

The jury heard that three men burst into the shop and used a hammer to break display cabinets while another many stayed in a waiting van.

The men wore hooded tops to disguise their faces.

Prosecutor Ian James said: ‘Members of staff cowered behind counters as the men burst in, one with a firearm and another with a hammer, which was used to break the display cabinets before leaving with what they could.

‘One of the robbers let off some sort of smoke bomb causing confusion and stock was taken as loads of glass fragments went everywhere because of the way the robbery was conducted.’

Mr James also said that Mostafa was Hamza’s son, after the Recorder of Norwich, Judge Peter Jacobs lifted a contempt of court order.

He said: ‘His (Mostafa) parentage is as we thought. His father is Abu Hamza.’

The judge said: ‘The gentleman with the hook.’

Mr James replied: ‘Yes’.

Hamza is considered a dangerous terror suspect who is currently appealing to European judges over his extradition from the UK to America after being accused of conspiring to take Western hostages in the Yemen, funding terrorism and running a terrorist training camp in Oregon between 1998 and 2000.

In the jewellery robbery, Mostafa and Ossama Hamed, 19 of Fulham, London, Ahmed Ahmed, 19, of Enfield and Jonathon Abdul, 17, also of Fulham, dumped the van nearby the shop before returning to London. They also stopped in Gayton to dump jewellery casings.

Mostafa told the jury that he was teaching Arabic and the Koran at a community centre in London at the time the robbery took place.

 

He said he was on a gap year from university and said: ‘I am not a thief. I am not an armed robber.’

Abdul, who was 16 at the time of the robbery, denied the offences but was also convicted by the jury.

He said he was subject to a bail curfew at the time and had to return to London by 10pm that day.

The judge lifted previous reporting restrictions on the youth, allowing the publication of his name of someone under 18 in ‘these exceptional circumstances’.

The judge asked for full pre-sentence reports to be prepared.

Hamza has seven children and in the past his relatives have been arrested for various offences.

Sons Hamza Mustafa Kamel, Mohamed Kamel Mostafa and Mohssin Ghailan were jailed in 2009 for their part in a £1million luxury car scam.

Simon Parkes was today jailed for four months after he stuck a pig’s head onto the gates of a mosque

A former soldier has been jailed for four months after he tied a pig’s head to the gates of a mosque before uploading pictures of what he did on Facebook.

Simon Parkes, 45, tied the animal’s head to the front of Cheltenham Mosque, Gloucestershire, after seeing a group of Muslims burning poppies on Remembrance Sunday 2010.

He also wrote ‘Allah’ on the pig’s snout in what was seen as an ‘act of revenge’ against the Muslim religion.

Parkes also painted ‘rag heads out’ on the side of the mosque.

Gloucester Crown Court heard that his actions had distressed worshippers at the mosque and served to heighten racial tensions.

Sentencing him Judge Jamie Tabor QC, said: ‘Not only soldiers but the majority of citizens of this country were offended by seeing the poppies burnt.

‘They, however, did not react as you did. You deliberately set out to not only insult another religion but you undertook to inflame and enhance racial tension.’

Parkes went to the mosque with an unknown accomplice in the early hours of November 13, 2010 and placed the pig’s head on the gate at the front.

Pigs are seen as being unclean in the Muslim and Jewish religion so Parkes’ actions will have been deeply offensive to anyone who saw what he had done.

They used red paint to daub graffiti on the building which was found a few hours later by a worshipper who was ‘deeply offended’ by what he saw.

Prosecutor Lisa Hennessy said: ‘On the gates was a disembodied pig’s head which had been tied on a head level by what appeared to be shoe laces.

‘Written on the head, down the nose, was the name of Allah. He removed the head as quickly as he could. Two passers by removed the head from the vicinity and placed it in a bin.

‘CCTV, taken from a nearby camera, showed two hooded, masked men arrive at around 2am. They got out the car with the pig’s head in a carrier bag.’

Since the poppy burning, the extremist Muslim group that carried it out has been formally banned.

Muslims Against Crusades was made a proscribed terrorist group by Home Secretary Theresa May meaning they could face up to 10 years in prison.

There was anger in March last year when Emdadur Choudhury was fined just £50 for starting the fire and shouting ‘British soldiers burn in hell’.

After receiving his penalty the 26 year old said: ‘I don’t have any respect for British soldiers, and if they lose a limb or two in Afghanistan then they deserve it.’

Choudhury, from Bethnal Green, East London, was found guilty of using threatening or abusive words or behaviour by District Judge Howard Riddle, following a one-day trial and ordered to pay a £15 victim surcharge.

Parkes, who served in Northern Ireland and the Falklands, uploaded pictures onto the internet three weeks later and boasted about his actions.

In police interview he admitted to carrying out the attack after seeing a news item about Muslim extremists burning poppies two days earlier.

He pleaded guilty to racially aggravated criminal damage and racially aggravated intentional harassment at Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court earlier this month.

Defending him, Stephen Thomas, said Parkes had suffered a number of difficult set-backs leading up to the event and was sorry for what he had done.

He said: ‘The catalyst was when he saw the poppy burning at Queen Kensington only two days before. He does not seek to use it as an excuse but it goes some way.

‘He believed in his mind that this behaviour was the same as what the Muslim extremists had done. He accepts now his behaviour went beyond the traditional freedom of speech.

‘He was a soldier who served in Northern Ireland and the Falklands among others and although he was assessed some time ago as having no issues with post traumatic stress disorder he suffered severe flashbacks.

Parkes said he was reacting to a poppy burning two days earlier on Armistice Day by a now-banned group

‘He is genuinely remorseful for what he has done and wishes to write a letter of apology to the Mosque.’

Judge Tabor added that the crime was obviously premeditated and by putting the photographs online he was in no doubt he was ‘revelling’ in what he had done.

He handed Parkes a four month prison sentence after reducing the time due to his guilty plea and his ‘still untreated PTSD’.

After sentencing, a spokesman from Cheltenham Mosque said: ‘This was a very shocking incident for the whole community Muslim and Non-Muslim alike.

‘We would like to re-iterate our thanks to the police, the council and the local neighbours for their tremendous support.

‘The damage was dealt with very quickly in order for normality to be achieved and we have left the rest to the authorities and the justice system to deal with.’

Inspector Tim Waterhouse, from Gloucestershire Police, said: ‘I hope this sentence sends out a clear message that this sort of appalling criminal behaviour will not be tolerated.

‘Although this disturbing incident happened nearly two years ago a painstaking and difficult enquiry has led to today’s sentencing.

‘The message is clear that we will not stop in our determination to target criminals and keep people and our communities safe from harm.’

The EDL (English Defence League) have been given permission to demonstrate in Walthamstow this Saturday the 1^stof September 2012 despite the fact that every sane person in the UK thinks that this is bound to involve clashes between Muslim (and other ethnic minority) youth and the racists. Nevertheless the police have issued a statement that they have ‘no intelligence’…. of any potential trouble whatsoever and that the whole event will pass off peacefully! This knowing full well that the EDL are specifically trying to rally hatred towards a community, namely the Muslim community, and despite the fact that British law specifically outlaws incitement to religious hatred, the actual wording reads ‘A person who uses threatening words or behaviour, or displays any written material which is threatening, is guilty of an offence if he intends thereby to stir up religious hatred’ [29B (1) Part 3A Public Order Act 1986]

He is quoting English law. The law that he says means nothing because it is man made and not Allahs law, and he is demanding the British police, who his banners say can “go to hell” do something about the EDL.

The hypocrisy of the police is clear in the case of the EDL; that it is absolutely fine for mindless racist yobs to continue to insult Islam and the Messenger Muhammad, to do everything they can to try to intimidate Muslims, to swear at Allah etc… but when it comes to Muslims calling for fellow Muslims to fight to defend their lives it is treated as terrorism, when it comes to opposing the evil fruits of democracy and freedom it is radicalisation for which you will be proscribed, to express that the UK’s foreign policy had something to do with 77 and hence that the UK regime may have actually brought it upon themselves is glorifying terrorism and so on…

For Muslims who speak outside the Mosque and try to make awareness about the situation of the Ummah worldwide and who call for the Shari’ah, the Walthamstow police seek ASBO’s and do all they can to get statements of support from ‘leaders’ in the Muslim community to create division and hatred between Muslims. But when it comes to large numbers of English racists intent on throwing as many insults as they can towards Islam, that’s called freedom of speech. When Muslims distribute leaflets about Islam in Walthamstow market the local police try to get statements and statistics from shop-keepers on how it affects their business to try to put a stop to it but when it comes to racist youths who will probably get drunk and then march through the heart of a Muslim area and when many Muslims have already objected and are closing down their shops in case they are met with bricks, that’s called the right to demonstrate.

Lets not fool ourselves, Muslims in the UK already know that they are treated as second class citizens, the stop and search laws, the glorification of terrorism laws, the proscription of ideological groups, the heavy handedness with which they are regularly treated are all testimony to this. However, unlike our forefathers who came to this country in the 1960’s and 1970’s largely looking for economic prosperity, the Muslim community is today second and third class citizens who are as British as any other person in the terms defined by the UK, they are also demographically the largest percentage when it comes to the youth and many have become used to police duplicity towards them and their being constantly suspected etc… add to that the concern of people coming into the heart of their area intent to stir up hatred towards them and previous examples of Muslim men and women being threatened and even beaten and abused, the examples of which are all widely available on the internet, then you have a situation that is extremely volatile.

He moans about his groups being banned, but at the same time he wants the EDL banned. Cant have it both ways Andy. Also admits that demographically they are in large numbers in the area, another reason we have to object. Mass immigration is destroying this countries identity. Thanks for confirming it.

Could it be that the Cameron regime actually wants to scare the Muslim community into submission so that they can continue with their foreign policy of occupation and murder unabated and with their domestic policy of oppression and injustice without resistance? It is not inconceivable that the EDL and the UK regime and police have very similar objectives but perhaps with differing methodologies.

He ACTUALLY thinks that the UK Government is in league with the EDL. Hes mental. We have suffered three years of them trying to smash us.

May Allah (SWT) protect all the Muslims this coming Saturday and hasten the time when we can replace the clear hypocrisy of man made law (like freedom and democracy) and its protagonists with the beauty and perfection of divine law i.e. Shari’ah.

Nurse Abdullah Khan, 37, was found to have ignored the pensioner’s cries for help and failed to notice she had been seriously injured.

She was left in her bed for nearly two hours before an ambulance was called after she fell at the Blackburn home.

A SCHOOL bus driver who exposed himself to a 16-year-old passenger and kissed another teenage girl on the neck has been spared a jail term.

<respond_button adunit=”4″ buttontype=”2″ title=”North Wales bus driver who exposed himself to teen spard jail” id=”1″>On another occasion Elfed Lewis Williams, of Denbigh Road, Llanrwst, produced a camera and tried to put it down a girl’s top and slapped another teenager on the bottom a judge at Caernarfon Crown Court heard.

The 62-year-old admitted three charges of sexual assault and one of outraging public decency and was given a three year community order.

Prosecutor Sion ap Mihangel said the most recent offence happened in June near Trawsfynydd.   He said the 16-year-old girl had got onto the bus and saw Williams sitting in one of the front seats with his trousers down to just above the knees. She then fled from the bus.

Interviewed later by police he claimed he had injured himself closing a zip earlier at Llandudno and during the journey to Trawsfynydd had become “uncomfortable” and needed to put cream on his groin.

Williams had already been charged with three offences of sexual assault.

Mr ap Mihangel said the first assault happened in June 2010 when a 16-year-old girl was in a car driven by Williams.

He said: “During the journey he tried to put a camera down her top. Later during the journey he stroked her leg.

“The second offence occurred in May last year. The same girl got onto the bus and Williams tried to get her to expose more of her breasts.

“He left his seat on the bus and came up behind her, kissed her neck and touched her leg.”

A 15-year-old girl had had her bottom slapped by Williams as she walked off the bus, the barrister said.

“She did not think much of that at first and considered it a joke. But after discussing it with others realised it was not appropriate behaviour,” he said.

Sentencing, Judge Niclas Parry said: “This is a worrying case. You clearly have an unhealthy interest in adolescent girls. You manipulated your position of trust to take advantage of young girls and shows you are unable to control your sexual urges.”

The judge ordered Williams be supervised by probation officers for the next three years and must attend a sexual offenders course.

Williams was also handed a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) which bans him from speaking with girls aged 16 or younger in “a sexual or inappropriate” manner. He must also not seek to befriend or associate with girls aged under 16.

He was also ordered to sign the sexual offenders register. Both orders will last for five years the judge ruled.

Duncan Bould, defending, said he had pleaded guilty to the offences and had lost his job as a bus driver.

“He realises he will not be working with children any more,” he said.

Student from Northampton attacked doorman with a bottle

A student must pay £1,000 compensation to a nightclub doorman he hit over the head with a bottle.

 

Abdul Raji, 22, of Northampton, delivered the blow after being ejected from Liquid Envy, in Leicester city centre.

The doorman suffered a cut head, needing six stitches, after being struck outside after Raji was ejected from the club for fighting on May 31.

Gary Short, prosecuting, said a “champagne-sized” bottle was used.

Raji, who is studying computer science at Leicester’s De Montfort University, admitted causing actual bodily harm and was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment, suspended for two years. He was also ordered to do 240 hours of unpaid work and pay comnpensatioin.

Raji, of Campion Court, Bellinge, Northampton, offered to sacrifice part of a bursary he was awarded for his degree course, to pay to the victim.

He was ordered to pay £1,000 compensation to the doorman at £75 a month.

Jonathan Longman, mitigating, said: “He knows his stupidity has put his future prospects in real jeopardy. He joined a student pub crawl around pubs and clubs in Leicester and consumed far more alcohol than ever before. He has no recollection of his actions.

“He has no desire to repeat such activity and hasn’t touched any alcohol since. He’s disgusted, as is his girlfriend, who sits in court today.

“He has learnt his lesson through the court process. He wants to make amends to the victim in any way he can.”

Sentencing, Judge Michael Fowler said: “You hit someone over the head with a big bottle causing a substantial injury.

“In 99 out of 100 such cases, a suspended sentence wouldn’t be appropriate. I have to balance the consequences for you and also demonstrate society’s abhorrence.

“You’re a man of positive good character who has worked hard to reach the position you have and it would be detrimental to society if your efforts were destroyed by going to prison today.”

1100hrs at Kings Cross Station , London, N1 9AP. We are being allowed to use three pubs. You will be met by stewards , and directed to the “refreshment areas”. Coaches will be directed to parking near the demo site. 
1200hrs there will be a briefing for all Stewards outside one of the pubs tbc 

1300hrs we will be escorted to Kings Cross Station to board trains to the March Point. Do not miss these trains , or you will miss the march and possibly the demo !! A steward will be in every pub , to make sure you leave in time to catch the trains. You may be required to buy a ticket..please make sure you have an extra £4.00 to do so.

After we exit the trains (about 1330hrs) , we will form up for a 15 minute march to the demo point. Bring your flags , and singing voices. Vile: Rasul Abdullah is a serial sex attacker who had previously won a legal fight to stay in Britain but has now begged to leave

An immigrant sex attacker who managed to claim asylum in Britain begged to go home to Iraq after he was jailed for four years.

Rasul Abdullah, 31, was branded a ‘menace’ and a ‘sexual predator’ after he groped two women in a nightclub on the same night and then took a young mother captive and molested her while on bail.

Abdullah begged a judge at Burnley Crown Court in Lancashire to send him back to Iraq saying he ‘no longer wanted to stay in Britain’ after he was convicted of two charges of sexual assault and one of assault by penetration.

The offences occurred over a three month period after Abdullah, an Iraqi Kurd, was allowed by the Government to remain in the UK indefinitely.

He will now serve his sentence in a British jail and could be deported afterwards.

One of the nightclub victims said her once confident personality had dissolved after the attack and she became afraid to leave the house.

The young mother said she no longer went out or interacted with anybody and was frightened of coming across her attacker again.

Abdullah was ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for life and was given a 10 year sexual offences prevention order, banning him from entering or remaining anywhere licensed for the consumption of alcohol on the premises, between 11pm and 8am.

Sentencing, the judge Mr Recorder Nick Clarke QC told him: ‘I saw for myself the impact that these offences had on these women.

Earlier Mr Joe Boyd, prosecuting, said the first offences too place just after 2am, last November 6, when one of the women was on the dance floor in Pharoah’s bar in Burnley.

She felt a hand go underneath her skirt and she jumped forward before turning to see who the culprit was.

The victim was said to be ‘very upset’ and pointed out Abdullah, as he came out of the ladies’ toilets, to the bar manager.

Abdullah was detained by staff until police arrived to arrest him. Whilst the woman was still in tears following the assault, a second woman approached her to say he had also groped her by putting his hand up her dress and touching her bottom.

She was extremely angry and also upset. The second victim said she had seen Abdullah going into the ladies’ toilets. When she subsequently went to the lavatory, an Asian man had put his head around the door and she realised it was the same man.

Both women picked out Abdullah at an identity parade. He was questioned but bailed and the following January began chatting up the young mother after spotting her pushing her baby in a pram ouside his home.

Abdullah asked her in and ‘stupidly ; she agreed, out of politeness. But as the baby looked on, he suddenly locked the front door, grabbed the young woman and tried to hug, kiss and touch her.

She pushed him off, screamed and shouted to be let go and he finally unlocked the door and let them out.

Mr Boyd said : ‘She was extremely upset by what had happened and spoke to the headmistress at the school where one of her children attended. Police were called and the defendant was arrested.’

Abdullah claimed to officers the women who had been in the nightclub were mistaken or simply lying. When asked about the third victim, he claimed the young mother had been banging on his door demanding sex before going into his house saying: ;I love you. I love you.’

Abdullah claimed he was ‘extremely frightened’ of the young mum and added: ‘She was just after sex – I threw her out of the house.’

His counsel Martin Hackett said: ‘I concede at the outset that clearly there has to be a custodial sentence. These were very unpleasant offences.’

Before he was taken from the court dock, Abdullah told the judge, through his Kurdish- speaking interpreter that he wanted to be sent back to Iraq. He said : “ I don’t want to stay in this country anymore.”

After the case, Det Con David Greenwood commended the “ professionalism” shown by the staff of Pharoah’s on the night of the two attacks.

He said the manager, Shaun Grogan had detained Abdullah at the scene and held him until police arrived. The officer continued : ‘Without the involvement of the staff and their actions at the time, the likelihood is this man may have gone untraced and unpunished.’

Racist graffitti at Andre Bell’s home

“One man said he’d never seen anything like it in the 24 years he’d been there.
“I haven’t been approached by anyone in a confrontational manner, so it came as shock.

“It’s a nice area, especially for our children.

“I don’t want to make any assumptions about who it is, children or otherwise.”

The couple will move into the house today with five-year-old Shawn and three-month-old twins Gabriel and Nathaniel.

Mr Bell contacted the council on Friday, when the graffiti was seen by officials, and the matter was reported to the police.

Anyone with information about the culprit is asked to contact Kirklees police on 101.

Police issue photograph of man wanted over violent robberies in Manningham

Police today released an image of a suspect they want to speak to in connection with a series of violent late night robberies, targeting elderly and vulnerable people in their Bradford homes.

Victims, as old as 88, were left traumatised and in fear during three linked robberies inManningham , committed by a man in traditional Muslim dress.

Detectives hope the image, captured on CCTV at one of the crime scenes, will help identify the robber.

The first victim, aged 72, was targeted at his flat in Mount Royds, between 11pm and 11.40pm, on Thursday, July 12. He was threatened by a man with a knife and an amount of cash was taken. The pensioner was uninjured but very shocked.

The second incident took place on Wednesday, July 18, between 10pm and 10.15pm, when an 88-year-old man in the same block of flats was threatened by a masked man with a hammer. The robber demanded cash before locking the victim in his own flat and making off. The victim had minor injuries.

The third robbery happened on Saturday, August 11, between 10pm and 10.30pm at flats in Manningham Lane, when a 53-year-old man was tricked into letting a suspect into his home. He was then subjected to a serious assault, being punched a number of times in the face. The suspect made off with an amount of cash, and the victim went to hospital for a check up.

On each occasion the suspect was wearing traditional Muslim dress.

Detective Inspector Tony Nicholson, of Bradford South CID, said: “The image we have released was taken from CCTV close to the address in Mount Royd on July 12, around the time the first offence occurred.

“It is important to establish the identity of this man as part of our investigations.

“On each occasion, the suspect involved in these robberies has demonstrated a particular knowledge of his victim, such as their name or people they knew.

“He has then used this to gain their confidence and enter their property.

“Once inside he has demanded cash, pin number and bank cards.

“The suspect is believed to be Asian, about 6ft tall, in his 30s, with a full beard, and of medium build.

“Someone in the local area may recall a man of this description asking unusual questions to gather this information and I would like to hear from them if this is the case.”

Det Insp Nicholson added: “It is particularly concerning that he has targeted his victims due to their vulnerability, using unnecessary violence in each case.

“It has left each victim traumatised and fearing for their safety.

“We need to find the person responsible as quickly as possible and I am calling on the community to tell us who the person is in the CCTV footage.

See link below. Does anyone actually believe a word this Government say? This “crackdown” includes giving Registrars the power to stop a wedding if they think its a sham. Most wont bother as its not worth the hassle and whats in it for them? Do you want to be a Registrar telling a couple assembled with all their friend that you wont marry them as you smell a rat? Of course not, you’d keep quiet for an easy life. Also talk of hassling Universities over the massive amount of foreign students who don’t attend classes they are enrolled on. Last week she was saying she was going to crack down on overstayers by writing to them and telling them to hand themselves in. Criminals don’t hand themselves in because they get a nasty letter telling them to. This is not a crackdown. Its newspaper headlines from a controlled press to make the ignorant sit around saying “They are cracking down on illegal immigrants, about time”, when in reality its just so much hot air.

A Commander of the Met once said there were over a million illegal immigrants in London alone, but he couldn’t do much about it as it would “close down the restaurant trade overnight”. So obviously if we did get rid of them, there would be a lot of jobs for those people entitled to be here. Its not rocket salad. Then there’s the fact that 123 kids were stabbed to death in London last year, most of the victims and ALL of the attackers were non white, with large numbers of the attackers being illegal immigrants. Foreign gangs control the drug trade in most cities and in a system where the authorities don’t even know who is supposed to be here and who isn’t is it any wonder that gangsters from other countries come here to pray on us? Turkish mafia, Armenian drug gangs, Romanian pickpockets etc etc How many times have you seen people raped, run over or killed by illegal immigrants? This blog is full of the stories. “Asylum seekers” who supposedly cant return home for fear of persecution, but who regularly go on holidays to their country of origin, blatantly taking the piss out of our soft laws.When are the Government going to start protecting our people from foreign criminals? They do nothing. The Border Agency is run by the PCS Union, a Union infested with Communists. They don’t even have a dedicated reporting phone line. They are a farce.

Theresa May knows the British people are angry so she announces these Mickey Mouse “crackdowns”. This is not a crackdown. A crackdown would be, withdrawing our soldiers from phony wars in shitty countries that don’t concern us and using them to forcibly remove anyone who has no right to be here. Forget human rights, those rights never seem to apply to the victims do they? Ferry them all to France, then France deport them and so on until they land back where they came from.  Unless this happens, any talk of a crackdown is just so much nonsense, and the Government are still turning a blind eye while our people are raped and killed. ‘Model citizens’ locked up for vicious beating of innocent teacher

TWO previously ‘model’ citizens who turned attackers and subjected an innocent teacher to a ferocious beating are behind bars.

Burnley Crown Court heard how victim Junaid Hussain, 22, had been lured to a house in Nelson by his old school friend Zahoor Hussain.

Whilst he was there, Mohammed Owais, 23, came in and set about the victim with a metal bar, bit his right cheek, punched him in the face and headbutted him.

Zahoor Hussain then joined in the violence and stamped on his head.

The victim suffered swelling to his eye and cheekbone, a bite mark, a mark on his forehead, and a bust lip and when police arrived they found him with his jumper covered in blood.

Zahoor Hussain, 23, of Hibson Road, and Owais, of Railway Street, both Nelson, who have both been to university, had earlier admitted wounding, committed on May 19, last year.

Owais, who alleged the victim had ‘bad mouthed’ him, was jailed for nine months. Hussain received a 19 week prison sentence.

For Owais, Simon Gurney told the court he was well educated and had prospects for the future.

He worked in a retail outlet and his income went to support his family.

The barrister said: “It would have a significant impact on his family also if he was sent to custody today. The court could have every confidence if a suspended sentence was passed today, that the defendant would not trouble the courts again.”

Mr Gurney said: “For 15 months he has had the case hanging over him and it has had a salutary effect upon him.”

Anthony Rose, representing Hussain, said the defendants were decent young men, who were involved in the community and wanted to help people.

Mr Rose said: “I accept that it was his instigation that got the victim round to the house.”

Sentencing, Recorder Terence Rigby said neither of the defendants had any previous convictions.

He told the pair: “You were both young men for whom the world was waiting. You were, to a degree, a model within your own community, both of you.”
