A man has been charged after a teenager was attacked in Hyde.
Ali Haydor (born 28/08/1990) of Croft Street, Hyde has been charged with section 18 assault. He is due to appear at Tameside Magistrates Court today, Thursday 9 February 2012.
At about 10.15pm on Saturday, 4 February 2012, two 17-year-old boys were walking down Market Street, Hyde, when they passed by a takeaway shop.
Inside were a group of men and a woman. One of the men produced a knife and made a threatening gesture. The victims ignored this and walked on, but moments later a group began to run after the pair.
One of the boys was punched and kicked as he lay on the ground, suffering two fractured eye sockets. His friend was punched in the face. The first victim is now in a stable condition.
A 17-year-old boy who was arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault has been bailed until 23 April 2012 pending further enquiries.
